WOAW today it's exactly one year since my first TSAU post, I talked about it in a recent post (and also you can easily tell from the way talking about the AU in that original post) that I really wasn't planning on expanding the AU that much. I mostly intended to make at most a couple posts explaining some basic concepts and ideas, but I ended up getting really invested in the story so now there's quite a lot of stuff I've made for this AU. And again, big thanks to you guys for being so supportive, it still suprises me whenever I see someone talk about how much they like the AU 😭💕
Anyway, to celebrate I figured I wanted to do something special for the occasion and I figured I could take art requests, specifically art requests related to TSAU! :D I dunno for sure how long this event is gonna last, until I run out of motivation or good suggestions I suppose. I also obviously can't garantuee I'll draw every single request I'll get, but I'll try to draw as many as possible :]
So ye, come up with some interesting prompts for the AU and send them to my askbox!

A LITTLE LIGHT
i hope everyone who celebrates is having a great Christmas eve! it honestly doesn’t even feel like it’s christmas tho :,) anyways here’s a sappy holiday blurb!
The sun was beginning to dip below the horizon, Star stood on her porch, the gift she’d spent hours wrapping cradled in her arms. Across the lot, Chris’s trailer glowed faintly with the light of a single window. It was beat up, like all the trailers here, but tonight it seemed more inviting than usual. Maybe it was the thought of Evelyn being home, or Lila’s enthusiasm for the holidays, but something about it pulled her in.
Evelyn had opened the door before Star even had the chance to knock.
“Hi, sweetheart!” Evelyn greeted her with a warm smile, her voice carrying the faint rasp of someone who had been through more than her share of battles. But tonight, there was a brightness in her that matched the twinkle in her eye. “Come in, come in—it’s cold out there!”
Star smiled, stepping inside and kicking off her boots at the door. The trailer smelled like cinnamon and pine, and for a moment, she felt as though she had stepped into a scene from one of those holiday movies Madison was always trying to get her to watch.
“Ma, you’re supposed to be resting,” came Chris’s voice from the kitchen. He appeared a moment later, wiping his hands on a dishtowel. His hair was slightly messy, as though he’d been running his hands through it while working. His eyes landed on Star, softening just a fraction.
“Chris, I’ve been resting for weeks, I’m not dead yet,” Evelyn shot back, already making her way to a box of ornaments sitting by the couch. She moved carefully, but there was a stubborn determination in her every step. “If I don’t help decorate this tree, who’s going to stop Lila from putting all the ornaments in one spot?”
Chris let out a small sigh but didn’t argue. Instead, he turned to Star, his expression softening even further. “Hey.”
“Hi,” Star replied, feeling a flutter in her chest she still wasn’t used to.
“Chris, help me with the lights!” Lila’s voice rang out from somewhere near the couch. The six-year-old was already untangling a mess of string lights, her curls bouncing as she pulled on the strands with the determination of someone three times her age.
Chris glanced at Star, his lips twitching into the faintest of smiles. “Guess you’re on ornament duty.”
The next hour was a flurry of activity. Lila darted around the room, her excitement infectious as she insisted on showing Star every ornament she pulled from the box.
“This one’s my favorite,” Lila said, holding up a glittery snowflake with a missing point. “I made it when I was little.”
“You were so much littler, huh?” Star teased, helping Lila hang the snowflake on a low branch where she could reach.
Chris worked silently but efficiently, stringing the lights around the tree with a practiced ease. Star couldn’t help but watch him from time to time, her heart softening at the sight of him crouching to adjust the lights at Lila’s height or standing back to admire his work with a faint nod of approval.
Evelyn refused to sit still. She was everywhere at once, hanging garlands, offering decorating tips, and reminiscing about Christmases past.
“Chris used to hate Christmas when he was Lila’s age,” Evelyn said with a laugh, hanging a wreath near the window. “He’d complain about the cold and the noise, but the second the gifts came out, he’d be the happiest kid in the world.”
“Ma,” Chris groaned, his ears turning pink.
Star bit back a laugh. “Sounds like he’s always been a little grinchy.”
“Not always,” Evelyn said, giving Chris a fond look. “He used to draw me Christmas cards every year—these beautiful little sketches of trees and snow. I still have them in a box somewhere.”
Chris looked away, busying himself with adjusting a strand of lights.
“Did he ever make you anything, Lila?” Star asked, smiling at the girl.
“He drew me a princess last christmas,” Lila said proudly. “But she had armor, ‘cause Chris said princesses don’t need saving.”
Star glanced at Chris, who was still pretending not to hear. She couldn’t help but smile.
As they worked, Evelyn turned to Star. “What about you, sweetheart? What does your family do for the holidays?”
Star hesitated, the warmth of the room suddenly feeling a little too close. She hadn’t expected the question, and for a moment, she wasn’t sure how to answer.
“My mom passed away a while ago,” she said finally, keeping her voice steady. “And my dad’s… away for the holidays. On a trip.” She tried to sound nonchalant, but the weight of the words hung in the air.
Evelyn’s face softened, her hand resting lightly on Star’s arm. “I’m sorry, honey. That must be hard.”
“It’s fine,” Star said quickly, forcing a small smile.
For a moment, the room grew quiet, the cheerful buzz of activity paused. Then, Lila broke the silence.
“s’okay, Star,” she said brightly, tugging on her hand. “You can come over with us for Christmas!”
Star blinked, the sudden warmth in her chest catching her off guard. “Oh, I—”
“She’s right,” Evelyn said gently. “We’d love to have you.”
Lila leaned closer, cupping her hand to Star’s ear and whispering loudly, “Chris already got you a present anyway.”
“Bug.” Chris turned, his voice half-annoyed, half-embarrassed.
“What? It’s true!” Lila said, grinning innocently.
Star glanced at Chris, who was now very focused on untangling a nonexistent knot in the lights.
“Can’t wait to see what it is,” Star teased, her smile softening as Chris muttered something under his breath.
The trailer had transformed by the time they were done. The little tree sparkled with mismatched ornaments, glittering lights, and Lila’s signature touches—a cluster of candy canes in one spot and a crooked star on top. Garland draped over the windows, and a few candles flickered on the kitchen counter, their glow soft and warm.
Evelyn sat on the recliner, a satisfied smile on her face. “This is the best it’s looked in years,” she said, looking around the room. “You kids did good.”
Chris shook his head, pretending to brush off the compliment, but Star caught the faint smile tugging at his lips.
“It looks perfect,” Star said, standing beside him. Her shoulder brushed his, and he didn’t move away this time.
“Yeah,” he said softly, glancing down at her. “It does.”
Evelyn watched them with a knowing look, but for once, she didn’t say anything.
They all settled down on the couch and recliner with mugs of cocoa. Lila climbed into Star’s lap, chattering away about how she’d convinced Chris to let her pick out the tree(“He said no at first, but then I looked at him like this—” she demonstrated with wide, pleading eyes—“and he said fine!”).
Chris rolled his eyes but didn’t argue, sipping his cocoa quietly.
“I remember the year Chris tried to make eggnog” Evelyn said suddenly, her eyes sparkling with laughter.
“Ma, don’t,” Chris said, groaning.
“Oh, I’m telling this one,” Evelyn said with a grin. She turned to Star. “He was about thirteen, and he decided he wanted to make Christmas special. So, he found this recipe for eggnog—except he didn’t have half the ingredients, so he just improvised.”
“It was fine,” Chris muttered.
“It was terrible,” Evelyn corrected. “It curdled! And the kitchen smelled like spoiled milk for days. But he was so proud of it, and he made me drink an entire glass.”
Star couldn’t hold back her laugh, and even Chris, despite his embarrassment, let out a low chuckle.
“Don’t let her fool you,” Chris said, shaking his head. “She told me it was the best eggnog she’d ever had.”
“I couldn’t crush your little spirit,” Evelyn said with a mock-serious tone.
The sound of their laughter filled the room, blending with the warm glow of the lights. For a moment, Star forgot about everything else—the cold, her empty trailer, the ache of her father’s absence. Here, in this small space, surrounded by this messy, imperfect family, she felt a sense of belonging she hadn’t realized she’d been missing.
Lila’s energy finally waned, and she fell asleep curled up on the couch. Chris carried her to her room, tucking her in with the kind of care that always surprised Star. He didn’t speak, but the way he smoothed her curls and pulled the blanket up to her chin said everything.
When he returned, Evelyn was already making her way to her room.
“I think I’ll turn in too,” she said, but not before stopping to kiss Chris on the cheek. “Thank you for making this a good night.”
Chris looked embarrassed, but his smile lingered even after Evelyn turned to Star.
“You’re always welcome here, sweetheart,” Evelyn said softly, squeezing Star’s hand. “Don’t be a stranger.”
As Evelyn disappeared into her room, Star made her way to the door, Chris following behind her. She turned to say goodbye, but the words caught in her throat when Evelyn’s voice rang out from down the hall.
“Oh, would you look at that!” Evelyn said, peeking her head out of her bedroom with a cheeky grin. She pointed upward. “Mistletoe!”
Star blinked, her eyes darting to the doorway. Sure enough, there it was—a tiny, fake ornament hanging crookedly above the doorframe.
Chris groaned, his hand running through his hair. “Ma,” he muttered, his ears turning pink.
Evelyn only laughed, retreating into her room. “Goodnight, you two!”
Star turned back to Chris, her heart pounding. He looked down at her, his usual guarded expression faltering into something softer.
“Well,” Star said, trying to sound casual even as her voice wavered, “it’d be sorta rude not to follow tradition huh?”
Chris hesitated for a moment, his hand twitching at his side as though he wasn’t sure what to do. Then, slowly, he stepped closer.
The kiss was soft—gentle in a way that made Star’s chest ache. Chris’s hand came up to cup her cheek, and she leaned into him, her fingers curling in the fabric of his shirt. It was different from the first time—less tentative, more certain.
When they finally pulled apart, Chris rested his forehead against hers, his eyes half-closed. “She’s gonna give me hell for this,” he muttered, a small, crooked smile tugging at his lips.
Star laughed softly, her breath warm against his skin. “Worth it.”
Star stepped out into the cold night air, her cheeks still flushed. She made her way across the lot, the glow of Chris’s trailer fading behind her.
“Star!”
She stopped, turning just in time to see Chris jogging toward her. His breath curled in the air, and before she could ask what he was doing, he was there, pulling her close and kissing her again.
It was rougher this time—more urgent, as though he was afraid the moment might slip away. When he pulled back, his voice was low and unsteady.
“Don’t ever think you’re not part of something,” he said, his hand lingering on her waist. “Not anymore.”
Star stared at him, her heart pounding.
“Goodnight,” he said softly, his lips quirking into a faint smile before he turned and walked back to the trailer.
Star stood there for a moment, her breath visible in the cold night air. Then, with a small, dazed smile, she turned and went inside.

new traditions 💍 joshua x reader.
it's christmas day and joshua still loves you.
★ fiancé!joshua x reader. ★ word count: 1.3k ★ genre/warnings: fluff, talk about marriage/weddings. heavily inspired by toneejay's bagong tradisyon. ★ footnotes: this is a quick one (a 1/2, if you will), but it's a christmas gift for the first friend i made on here. @chugging-antiseptic-dye, it's a privilege being a carat the same time as you! i offer you your husband (literally), and one of the songs that you & i bonded over. i'm in your corner all the way across the sea. 💌
The brass of the apartment key is cold between your fingers.
You turn it over, absentmindedly tracing its biting and shoulder. This is one of two copies; the original remains in Joshua’s safekeeping.
Speak of the devil, you muse when you hear his faint call of “Love?” from the living room.
You tear yourself out of your thoughts enough to pocket the key and pad out of the apartment’s one bedroom. What greets you is a sight for sore eyes. Cardboard boxes strewn across the floor, luggage bags practically bursting at the seams.
In the middle of it is Joshua. Your Joshua.
After all these years, you’re not any less accustomed to the sight of him— even if it is just him in a black, ribbed tank top. He had opted to dress down, knowing that moving day would entail a lot of hauling and organizing.
When you step into the room, the initial look of frustration on his expression gives way to something more affectionate. This is what his friends constantly teased him about— how Joshua was so damn soft for you.
It didn’t matter. It was a feeling you reciprocated, anyway.
“Love,” he starts as he gets to his feet. From the look of it, he had been sorting through the cutlery. “Where did you pack the mugs?”
You gingerly step through the fort of boxes, your eyes skipping over the tape bearing the contents of each carton. “Should be with the plates,” you note. “It was one of the last boxes you brought in.”
Joshua lets out a thoughtful hum. In the next five minutes, he finds exactly what he’s looking for.
“Thank you,” he says distractedly. “Love you.”
There it was. The easy, unconscious way in which Joshua would dole out those words. It didn’t matter where the two of you might be, whether you were with friends or if it was just the two of you.
Ordering takeout? I’ll have a pizza. Love you. Visiting his parents’ house? Shop with mom for a bit, ‘kay? Love you. Falling asleep together after a long day? A yawn, and then a quiet exhale. Love you.
To Joshua, loving you was as much of a given as breathing.
There are times when you underestimate it, when you think the words may lose their gravity because of how often he says them. That had been your fear in the beginning. You kept the words close to your heart, saving them for special occasions and big moments.
Consequently, you don’t respond to him, too distracted by the box containing your pillows and comforters. As always, Joshua refuses to stand for that.
With a furrowed brow, he abandons his mug-organizing to saunter over to your side.
“I said,” he says pointedly, his arms finding purchase around your waist. He gently pulls your back to his chest, his chin resting on your shoulder. “I love you.”
The petulant tone of his voice draws a laugh from you. You can’t quite turn your head to see his face but you can already imagine the expression he’s sporting. His lips, downturned into a frown. His eyes narrowed slightly.
“I love you, too,” you respond. You reach behind you, the position a little awkward, as you attempt to pat Joshua’s hip reassuringly.
He lets out a low scoff. His hands move up to your shoulders so he can ever so carefully turn you around until you’re facing him.
You’ve never been a particularly superstitious person. Neither is Joshua. Even so, the two of you didn’t want to risk anything, and so you subscribed to every existing credulous belief about moving houses.
You didn’t do it on a rainy day or a weekday. You opted for a day where the moon phase would be a new moon. Most importantly, you made sure to arrive before six in the morning. The last one was a nod to starting the new day, supposedly promising homeowners a prosperous beginning.
At first, you had been vehemently against the thought of getting up at the crack of dawn to begin the whole moving process. Now, though, you find yourself grateful for it.
The sunlight starting to streak through the window has Joshua glowing as he holds you. He’s incandescent, all honeyed skin and warm eyes. The real clincher is that he looks at you like you’re the sun itself.
“I see how it is.” He heaves out a dramatic sigh, his gaze fond despite his alleged annoyance. “I put a ring on your finger and you get cocky.”
Said engagement ring glints in the morning light as you go to rest your arms over Joshua’s shoulders. You return his jab with a roll of your eyes.
“Are we really going to fight on our first morning in our new place?” you bite out.
Joshua responds with an exaggerated gasp. “Who said we’re fighting? I would never fight you. I couldn’t bear to do it.”
You have half the mind to push the envelope, to insist that his attitude has led to a good number of spats. But there’s a part of you that knows he’s right, too. Joshua would sometimes be on the verge of tears when the two of you were getting into more serious arguments, and it was in large part because he couldn’t stomach the prospect of even raising his voice at you.
When you don’t contest him immediately, Joshua flashes you a winning smile. He rewards your concession with a lingering kiss to your forehead, and you begrudgingly take the ‘prize’.
His lips are still on the top of your head when he mumbles, “Say that again.”
“Hm?”
“I liked the sound of that. ‘Our place’,” he hums as he pulls away to grin at you.
Joshua wasn’t always vocal about his feelings on your big move, but it was in moments like these that you’re reminded just how badly he wanted it. How he had dragged you to IKEA every weekend in search of the perfect table linens and curtains. How he had gone through all the forms and processes with ruthless efficiency. How he had begun to include it in his prayers, the plea unassuming and full of hope.
Lord, please let me have this.
You’ve never been able to deny Joshua a thing. Your fingers go to stroke the short hair at his nape. Instinctively, his eyes flutter close at your ministrations.
“Our place,” you concede to repeating. “Welcome to our place, love.”
The dreamy smile that tugs at his lips makes it all worth it. His eyes flutter open, and he stares at you with a new kind of devotion.
There’s still a lot that the two of you have to do. Joshua has yet to contact an internet provider to get the apartment WiFi. You need to figure out how to transport the bigger pieces that the two of you have purchased, like the couches and the wardrobes.
But for now—
Joshua leans down to kiss you. And it’s everything. It’s his litany of love you’s throughout the years. It’s the way his hands shook when he got down on one knee. It’s the unpacked couple mugs, and the bed that you’re going to share, and the life that awaits the two of you.
When he breaks the kiss to breathe, he doesn’t go too far. His mouth is still against yours when he softly says, “This is the best Christmas ever.”
Initially, you want to agree. Instead, you find yourself whispering back, “No.”
You go on, “We’re going to have a dozen more Christmases together.”
“A hundred,” he shoots back in between giggles.
You’re not usually one to give in to your fiancé’s hyperboles, but you’re willing to make some exceptions. “A thousand,” you promise, making him laugh a little more.
Outside, day breaks.
There is a key in your pocket, a ring on your finger, and your heart in Joshua’s safekeeping.

Prompt from @imyouraziraphale
Merry Christmas to those who celebrate!!
"We need a Christmas tree."
"We have a Christmas tree, Nicholas," Agatha said, pointing to the corner of the room where their tree sat.
"Mama, that is a drawing. It's not even in color!"
"It was good enough last year," Agatha huffed, crossing her arms. Her son gave her a look that may as well have been her own reflection and she groaned.
"We need a real tree," Nicky insisted. "Like the one in the mall!"
"That one is way too big for our tiny house, baby," Agatha sighed.
"Okay, but at least one that isn't made of paper," he rebutted, pointing at Agatha's sad little drawing taped to the wall.
"You do know where paper comes from, don't you?" Agatha asked.
"Mama."
"Okay, fine," Agatha huffed. "We'll go to the tree farm in Eastview tomorrow, okay? Jeez."
"Thanks!" He pressed a kiss to his mother's cheek and all but skipped out of the room. Agatha bit back the smile until he was out of view, shaking her head in adoration.
Vidal's Trees was somehow still open on Christmas Eve, but the pickings were slim for trees by this point. Nicky held tightly to Agatha's hand as he dragged her around the lot, examining tree's with a severe gaze, circling them, sniffing them, feeling their branches. Agatha watched him, half-amused, as she wrapped her arms around herself, shivering in the New Jersey December chill. The sun was already going down and the temperature was dropping with it.
"Coffee?" Agatha turned to find a woman standing next to her, offering a steaming paper cup, a wry smile on her face. Agatha felt her cheeks warm at the other woman's presence. She was gorgeous, with medium-length, raven-black hair in a braid, wisps of hair coming out. She had several piercings in both ears and a stud on the right side of her nose. She wore a denim jacket with fur lining and a crocheted scarf sticking out with the lesbian pride flag colors (jackpot! a dumb voice in Agatha's mind supplied), and her dark jeans were tight and tucked into a pair of thick leather boots.
"It's free," the woman said when Agatha just stared at the offered cup. "Complimentary for customers. We also have hot chocolate." She nodded at Nicky, who was still circling the tree. "In the office over yonder." She nodded to a little cabin about twenty yards away.
"Yonder?" Agatha echoed, snorting as she finally accepted the cup. "I didn't know people said that this far north."
The woman smiled and shrugged. "My grandfather used to say it all the time," she said. "It kinda just stuck with me, I guess."
"It's cute," Agatha commented, taking a sip of the coffee. She sighed as the warmth spread through her. "Oh my Goddess, this coffee is amazing. What's in it?"
"Nothing special," the woman said, blushing slightly. "It's just some blend I get from the cafe I work at part-time. I just have a way with the coffee machine, I think."
"Well, if your touch with the hot chocolate is even remotely similar, I think my son would love some, if he ever decided on a tree, anyway." She looked at Nicky, who was testing the branches again. "Is this the one?" she asked, a little impatiently.
"I don't think so..." Nicky said, sounding disappointed. "There are a couple of bare spots and a lot of the branches are snapped. I don't think it would look very good in our house."
"Well, that's what we get for coming out last-second," Agatha sighed, offering an apologetic smile to the other woman. "Sorry to have wasted your time. How much do I owe you for the coffee?"
"Nothing," the woman said. "It's complimentary, remember?"
"For customers," Agatha said. "Based on the options you have left, I don't think we're going to be customers today."
In all honesty, the tree that Nicky had been considering was the best that Agatha could see. Everything else was either taken or worse off than this one was. She was doubtful that he'd be willing to take any of them home with him.
Pity. Maybe next year.
She pulled a couple dollar bills from her pocket and offered them to the raven-haired beauty, but the other woman refused to take them.
"Actually," she said, "I do have one more tree that you might want to see. Follow me."
She started walking away and Nicky immediately darted after her.
"Nicholas!" Agatha groaned, hastening to follow him without falling on her ass in the snow. She caught up to them closer to the cabin, following the two of them around the back of it.
Oh, great, a voice inside her head said, she's probably a murderer about to kill us in her shed. Well, I lived a good life, I guess.
"Here we are," the woman said, stopping just behind her cabin. There stood about four trees, in varying sizes, all in near-perfect condition. Seriously, if you looked up "Christmas tree" in the encyclopedia, there would be a picture of any one of these trees.
They were still rooted, too.
"They're perfect!" Nicky practically squealed, bouncing on his feet. "Can I pick any one of them?" he asked the woman, looking at her with his big brown eyes.
"It's up to your...mother?" She looked at Agatha. "I don't want to assume."
"Your assumption would be correct," Agatha said. "I am his mother."
"I'm sure your husband would approve of this one," the woman said.
Agatha wrinkled her nose, shaking her head. Nicky let out a laugh.
"Mama doesn't like boys!" he snickered. "And she's not married."
Her son, A+ wingman.
"Oh," the woman said, smiling at Agatha. "That's...interesting."
"Is it?" Agatha asked, her eyes flickering down to the scarf around the other woman's neck. She lifted her eyebrows pointedly. "Agatha, by the way." She offered her hand.
The other woman shook it with a toothy grin. She had the tiniest, most adorable gap in her front teeth. "Rio Vidal," she said.
"Of Vidal's Trees?" She let out a dramatic gasp. "I had no idea that I was in the presence of a local celebrity."
"Ha!" Rio said, shaking her head. "Hardly. My parents own this place. They're just down in San Juan for the winter, visiting family and whatnot. I've been tasked with wrapping business up for the season before I go join them in a couple weeks."
Agatha furrowed her brow. "You're alone for Christmas?" she asked, frowning. "That...sucks."
"Bad word!" Nicky exclaimed. "You owe me a dollar."
"You owe me your existence," Agatha huffed in return. He rolled his eyes. She smirked at him then turned back to Rio.
"It's fine," she said. "Christmas was never a huge event, anyway. It's always just been my parents and me. Dad can't really take the cold anymore, so once the temperature starts to drop into the teens, he heads south with my mom. I'm usually there by Christmas, but this year the earliest flight I could get was after New Year's. It's fine, though. Really. We'll celebrate the holidays, then."
"But won't Santa bring you presents still?" Nicky asked, looking genuinely concerned. "Don't your mommy and daddy want to see you unwrap them tomorrow morning?"
"I told Santa Claus to bring all my presents to their house in San Juan," Rio said, crouching to his height. "So I'll open all his gifts for me, just a little bit late. It's okay, though; I can wait."
Nicky still looked unsure. Then, he turned to his mother, tugging at her hand and motioning him down as Rio straightened up. Agatha offered Rio a bashful smile as she crouched down next to her son, letting him whisper in her ear.
"Can we invite her to our house for Christmas Eve?" Nicky whispered in Agatha's ear, making a blush bloom on her face so big that it reached the tips of her ears.
"Nicky..." Agatha whispered back, shaking her head.
"Please, Mama?" he begged, giving her those big brown eyes and his little pout and Good Goddess she had pretty much taught him that, hadn't she? Damn her.
Agatha took a deep breath, nodding as she stood, ignoring the protest in her knees as she did so.
"Rio," she said, trying to keep her voice steady as the other woman's warm gaze met hers, "would you like to join us for Christmas?"
Rio's eyes widened at that. "Oh," she said, a pretty pink spreading over her cheeks. "Um, that's really nice of you to offer, but you don't have to..."
"I insist," Agatha said, feeling Nicky tugging at her hand again. "So does he." She motioned to her son, who hit Rio with that same brown puppy dog stare of his. It proved lethal: Agatha watched as Rio melted under it, offering him a soft smile.
"Okay," she said. "If you insist. I would be happy to join you for Christmas."
"And Christmas Eve, too!" Nicky said. "We're having a party!"
Rio's eyes widened at that. "You are?" she asked.
Agatha took a deep breath, squeezing her son's hand back as she nodded. "We are. A few friends for dinner," she said. "Nothing special."
"We're playing Pictionary!" Nicky said. "Auntie Jen is super competitive! And Aunt Lilia makes really good cannolis!"
"You know," Rio said, smiling down at him, "I happen to love Pictionary and cannolis, so that sounds pretty great to me." She grinned up at Agatha, who smiled back softly. "If you don't mind, of course."
"I wouldn't have let him mention it if I did," Agatha said with a chuckle. "Here, let me get your number and I'll text you my address." She opened a 'New Contact' tab in her phone and offered it to Rio, who was visibly blushing. Agatha's face matched hers and she cleared her throat as their fingers brushed in the exchange.
Nicky watched them with a grin, squeezing his mother's hand a little. When Agatha looked down at him, she found his eyes twinkling. She made a face at him and he giggled, pressing his face into her side. She let go of his phone, running her fingers through his mop of hair.
"Here," Rio said. "Um, I can't wait until the party. I'm sure I'll kick Auntie Jen's butt at Pictionary," she said, looking down at Nicky, who giggled again.
Agatha smiled at the contact name for Rio ("Tree Girl") and sent a text with her address. There was a chime from Rio's pocket and she plucked out her phone, eyebrows lifting.
"Westview," she said, letting out a low whistle. "Fancy." She smirked up at Agatha. "I'll be there. Should I, uh, bring anything? Drinks, ice, food...a tree?" She nodded toward the four trees in her side yard.
"Oh," Agatha said, her eyes widening. "Right." She considered the four trees of varying sizes. "Um, that one might be the perfect size for our apartment, don't you think, Nicky?"
Nicky considered the second-smallest of the four trees, circling it like a dog looking for the perfect angle to lift his leg. Then he nodded.
"Yeah," he said, "I think so. There are no bald spots."
"Perfect, then," Agatha said, turning back to Rio. "How much?"
"Don't worry about it," Rio said. "Consider it a gift."
"Seriously?" Nicky exclaimed, smiling wide. "Awesome!"
"No," Agatha said, looking between him and Rio. "No, we couldn't possibly - "
"Agatha," Rio said, stopping Agatha's words dead on her tongue, "you've just invited me - a stranger - to spend Christmas with you just so I, a grown woman, wouldn't be alone. It's the least I can do to repay you."
"You don't have to repay me," Agatha said. "Besides, it's Christmas; you do good deeds on Christmas, don't you?"
"Then this is my good deed," Rio said. "I got you a Christmas tree. Just say thank you and let me get my axe."
"Your...you're going to cut it down yourself?" Agatha asked, feeling her entire body go hot.
"Of course," Rio snorted. "Do you see anybody else here? How else was I going to get it out of the ground?"
"That is so cool," Nicky said, practically bouncing around in a circle.
Agatha stayed rooted to the ground - much like the four trees behind her - while Rio disappeared around the back of the house and came back seconds later wielding an axe. Her eyes were glued to the other woman as she went to work chopping down the tree, her fists clenching at her sides as many thoughts ran through her mind.
Thoughts she dared not say aloud. Thoughts that would make a stripper blush.
The tree fell to the snow with a muted thud as Rio wiped sweat from her brow, grinning when she caught Agatha still staring at her, a fervent flush on her cheeks. Agatha looked away when Rio met her eyes, clearing her throat.
Rio reached for the end of the tree, pulling it up to her shoulder and dragging it to where there were a bunch of coiled up ropes. Agatha continued to watch her as she tied the tree up, then lifted it like it was nothing, over her shoulder.
"Where's your car?" she asked, tucking some more ropes under her arm. Agatha motioned in the general direction of her car. "Lead the way," Rio said.
Agatha nodded, reaching for her son's hand and practically dragging him in the direction of their car, all while ignoring his knowing smirk as they trudged through the snow, Rio right next to them.

Cosmere Secret Santa
I did this last Christmas as well, but this one will be different, as I'm once again using a randomizer to choose characters. For the record, I didn't fix the results except to omit anyone who appeared in last year's list and to nix any repeats in this one. Let's see what gifts they choose!
Thanks to @imtheseventh for requesting that I do this again! :)
1. Marsh gives Spook...a book
Spook: Oh, thank you, but I think Kelsier already got me this book? Marsh: Look more closely. Spook: [holds up two books side by side] Spook: See? Kelsier got me Hemalurgy for Dummies and you got me...oh. Hemalurgy Not For Dummies. Marsh: [taps eye spike knowingly]
2. Spook gives Fort...a coupon
Fort: "Fifty percent off women's slippers"? Spook: I heard you like deals--that was the best one I found! Fort: [pats him on the shoulder] Every bargain hunter has to start somewhere...
3. Fort gives Allrianne...a bracelet
Allrianne: Wow! It's actually pretty nice--thank you! Fort: You're so welcome! Fort: After a lot of hard work, I got it basically for free! Allrianne: You...didn't spend any money on it? Fort: Practically none! You're welcome! Allrianne: ... Fort: What?
4. Allrianne gives Raboniel...a pink dressing gown
Allrianne: What I see when I look at you is a woman who needs to relax and feel beautiful. Raboniel: [carefully examining the robe] Raboniel: No safehand sleeve, I see. Raboniel: Are you trying to seduce me? Allriane: EXCUSE me?! Raboniel: Listen, I get that from human woman more than you'd think..
5. Raboniel gives Elegy...a book of Sudoku puzzles
Elegy: ...I don't understand. Raboniel: I can see that you're trying to fight off the insanity that threatens to consume you. Raboniel: I know...something about that. Raboniel: It is helpful to keep the mind focused, occupied. Elegy: ...with number puzzles? Raboniel: Well, it's either that or going into weapon manufacturing, but Navani gave me a dirty look when I tried to buy you a bomb kit.
6. Elegy gives Marasi...a book
Elegy: My people do not have much, but I collected a book of our native stories for you. Elegy: Since your people seem to want to know about us so badly. Marasi: ...I don't know what that last part means, but thank you! Marasi: Aww, it's a book of stores for kids? How cute! Marasi: ... Marasi: Do they ALL end with children being consumed by ghosts? Elegy: Shades. And yes. Marasi: Thanks anyway? Elegy: What do you mean "anyway"?
7. Marasi gives Vin...a nice pen
Marasi: I-I mean, what do you give the woman who has everything?? Marasi: You did EVERYTHING in your life and set the bar so amazingly high with all of your powerful exploits! Marasi: S-Seriously I couldn't even FATHOM what do get the Ascendent Warrior for Christmas! Marasi: A-Anyway, since you have that nice pen anyway, I-I thought maybe you could sign something for me... Vin: ... Vin: What exactly happens in the future?
8. Vin gives Syl...the design for a mistcloak
Vin: You're sort of wind, right? Vin: Back home, the mists loved to play with the tassels on my mistcloak. I thought wind might be similar. Syl: [has already changed her form so that she appears to be wearing a mistcloak] Syl: Why do I feel so unbelievably cool?? Vin: It has that effect.
9. Syl gives Nale...coal
Nale: ...Are you telling me that I should build a nice fire and relax? Syl (arms crossed, glaring at Nale): I'm telling you that trying to KILL children means you get COAL Nale: The child in question gave me a hug when she confronted me. Syl: Yeah, well, I'm an Honorspren, not an Edgedancer.
10. Nale gives Denth...jail
Denth: ... Denth: It is literally Christmas. Nale: The law cares not for holidays.
11. Denth gives Charlie...a cat plushie
Charlie: [eying the cat plushie nervously] Charlie: Y-You're a bit of a bastard, huh? Denth: I don't know what you're talking about.
12. Charlie gives Marsh...a really nice bottle of rum
Marsh: This looks...expensive. Charlie: W-Well, you know. Charlie: When you draw the literal personification of death out of a hat for Secret Santa, you, uh...don't blow it off. Marsh: ... Marsh: I'm actually quite pleased.

ok anyway. Spanner time!!! funny lil mirror-dreamworld false-sun snake autism changeling. Of all my flondon/sskies characters I think they're definitely having the most fun, they are just thriving and vibing forever. The High Wilderness is a playground full of such interesting flora with a lot of fascinating stories to tell!
After aging out of the Regiment gang, Spanner and Kerry spent some time on zailing crews. In the High Wilderness conflicts they pretty quickly sided with the Tacketies. Adaptable and surprisingly effective, they proved themselves very useful to the cause, albeit quite eccentric. The duo earned their shared position, after a few attempts to utilize their skillsets on separate crews proved that - as much as they tend to egg each other on in making impulsive reckless decisions - not having the other to balance them out creates disasters much worse for everyone involved!
Text Transcripts:
In the top left are some quick details. In the style of other Fallen London characters, Spanner's epithet is 'the Incandescent Mirror'. Spanner uses they/them mostly but also any other pronouns, they're around 20 years old and around 5 feet 6 inches tall. They're not human, but a mysterious one-of-a-kind Parabola hybrid. Their role is as co-captain of a Tackety locomotive.
Near the main illustration are these notes: "Spanner's penchant for wearing blue is a holdover from the uniforms of the Regiment, the urchin gang in which they grew up alongside their adoptive brother Kerry. Kerry is the other captain of their shared train, Spanner's best friend, and the basis for their human appearance."
Above the two panels of Spanner hissing with a cat is this note: "Cats and Spanner don't tend to get along... Felines always seem to recognize the 'Parabolan serpent' in them, and no amount of negotiation has ever convinced a cat that Spanner has absolutely no allegiance to any fingerkings. And no connection at all, probably."
The last notes are next to the illustrations of Spanner with their inner metalwork and sunshine showing + Spanner chatting with plants: "Beneath the human veneer is a skeleton of metal, glass, and cosmogone. Their body is malleable and fluid, able to take on new forms at will. Spanner's been 'human' for most of their life, so they're very used to and comfortable with this shape. Their first and other default resembles some sort of constricting snake. Anything radically different than these requires a lot of study and practice to convincingly mimic. They don't inherently know where the joints should be."
"Even when not visible, Spanner is constantly exuding cosmogone radiation. To humans, it's a little chillier than true sunlight. To plants, it's about as good as or better than the real deal, and fungi benefit too. It vastly enhances their growth, and they draw closer to hungrily feast on the raw energy. Spanner is content with this, given their fascination with all flora & funga."
"Through an innate, automatic ability to Absorb Ambient Vibes (taking in residual, surface level feelings/emotions/senses around them), Spanner is uniquely able to communicate with plantlife. They are VERY excited to be in the Reach, where growing things are so abundant, although... Reach flora tend to be quite intense and volatile, flourishing aggressively and clamouring for the slightest hint og sunlight. In Spanner's hands, a verdant seed becomes a bomb. Not that this will stop them from greeting the local greenery =)"

#fallen london#fallen london oc#sunless skies#image#alt text#described#my art#my characters#char: spanner#i realized at some point putting together the alt text that i forgot to do the art fixes i wanted to#oh well#spanner my silly :]#do they conflict with some obscure fallen london lore... its possible. but i do what i want forever <3 i have fun#they don't know their exact origin but my current idea involves a devil and a dying fingerking and the parabolan sun#so maybe theyre part devil too. and maybe thats the justification for their shapeshifting/human disguise#and also why Spanner 'Is' enough to survive outside the mirrors when the Is-Not cant. theyre kind of the perfect ideal for a fingerking#something like that#hi anyone reading these o/ also i realized recently that You're on Fire - They Might Be Giants is very Spanner vibes

Fic idea!! If its been done pls tell me, but I'm pretty sure it hasn't, as always, free to a good home!
Tattoo shop owner Price: who, after one last extremely rough mission saw the exhaustion in his boys and helped them all get medically discharged. Who found an empty shop in a quiet town and saw the potential in both the shop and his boys, who runs himself ragged doing the paperwork and reception work for the shop.
Piercer Gaz: Who used to pierce in high school, in the bathrooms for the goths, the girlies and the gays. Who actually studied up on it quite a bit over the years (its a hyperfixation), Who has lots of hidden piercings that he somehow never got busted for during his military career. Everyone who saw them was too distracted by how hot he is naked to report his piercings.
Tattoo artist /biggest customer Ghost: Who got his first (shitty) tattoo at 15 and was instantly obsessed. Who uses the controlled pain as a coping mechanism for his trauma and PTSD. Who also just genuinely enjoys covering his body in Soaps art (definitely not because he sees the parts of his body with soaps artwork on it as more valuable than the rest of it.)
Tattoo artist Soap: Who is always drawing something, who can't help but see the beauty in everything and everyone, who is obsessed with finding the right style and placement to fit each person's body and soul. Who likes leaving his art on people as a way to prove that he exists, that he is here and he has changed these people in some way, that he has mattered. (Who is absolutely not obsessed with his art being the majority of marks on Ghosts and Oc's bodies, who absolutely does not see it as a mark of ownership, what are you talking about, he just thinks they're both his its bonnie!)
Receptionist-2nd biggest customer Oc: Who's just a pretty little thing that came in one day for shelter from a storm, Who asked so many questions in that soft voice, Who seemed so pleasantly surprised when Soap ("call me Johnny, please Lovey") offered to do her first tattoo as a way to pass the time waiting for the storm to end, Who mentioned a mean boss off-handedly, Who left with a new tattoo, piercing, and job. Who ends up turning into a tattoo fiend, (price and gaz have threatened Johnny that they'll fire her if he doesn't give her flesh time to heal before the next tattoo, they tried to fire him about it but he just kept coming back. She ends up in Ghosts chair anyway with his needle carving into her skin, and nobody is going to tell Ghost he can't tattoo her, well they can but he won't listen) Who gets absorbed into their lives and home and pollycule

I ONLY HAVE TEN PAGES LEFT TO DRAW.
bruh ive been so productive this vacation. Literally finishing like a page a day (8 hour drawing session days lol).
I know i know I should relax But I'm alone for the holidays rn and I can do whatever I want and that means sitting in my underwear drawing while watching yt videos on the worst xmas movies of all time lol. This is enrichment to me lol. I have issues sitting still i need to focus and do something or i will explode and rn drawing this comic has been a huge outlet for that.
I'm heading to Canada tomorrow though and I'm super excited so today is my last drawing day for the year. I'm honestly super confident now I'll have this comic update out end of January.
I cannot believe I've been able to go from so far behind to caught up. But I have just been having plenty of art time after work so I've been able to speed though things.
I am HYPED to get this update out. It's going to be INSANE. like u guys have no idea. So much going on in this chapter. Lots of crazy stuff.
So yeah Canada trip tomorrow, and then update for comic hopefully end of January.
Also, I've started to see a therapist to help with my severe anxiety over the election. I'm hoping this will help to ease my mind. I've been needing a therapist anyway. I have so many unresolved things I need to get off my chest.
I hope everyones holidays are going well, and again thanks for the support on my work! You all have no idea how much it means to me. Whenever I'm feeling down about my art, I read all the comments and tags you all have left on my story and it motivates me so much. ❤️

#death note#meronia#near#mello#mihael keehl#nate river#mello dn#near dn#artists on tumblr#horreurart#been working on this one here and there for a long while. i love drawing mello's scar >:) it's like a brain coral or a very shitty maze.#also i cannot remember the last time i posted something even slightly racy so this feels rather scandalous#2024 is the year of posting sexy blorbo art i've decided...#anyway this literally happened in canon it just wasn't relevant to death note's journey. source: trust me#something kind of melancholic about this piece i think. it's like spying on them. it pulled that one ee cummings poem from the#deepest receses of my mind -- i hadn't thought about it in years. it's sooo romantique. to me#girl help the anime boys are in doomed love...#in my mind this forbidden rendezvous is happening in one of those abandoned love motels with heart shaped tubs and round mattresses and#mirrors on the ceiling and wall carpeting. it's kind of gross.#sometime between spk control room meeting and mello dying. rip king at least you got the love of your life laid once (1) one time

Read Right to Left (Manga Format)
I have returned to watching demon slayer after a year and it came up while I was having a serious late night talk with my big sister. I was talking about the relationship between Michikatsu/Kokushibo and Yoriichi and it turns out we both see each other in Yoriichi's shoes and ourselves in Michikatsu's place. Definitely surprising, but really relieving to know that we both worry too much and we are not so far apart in skill as we believe.
This is technically the first piece of fanart I've ever made for the characters in Demon Slayer, I have made OCs before but I never drew an actual character from the story. For context this is mostly just a fun "what if" scenario with them meeting in the afterlife. I like to think Yoriichi's love would reawaken Michikatsu's humanity.
#demon slayer#kimetsu no yaiba#yoriichi tsugikuni#michikatsu tsugikuni#demon slayer fanart#kimetsu fanart#kny fanart#fan comic#very much unserious note: I misread something on the wiki to my sister as Koku offing himself because he regenerated too ugly 💀#and now me and my sister have “Kokushibo moment” to denote a scenario in which we become so absolutely pathetic that we just cannot go on#Mine is if I'm still making submas content at 60 years old#Hers is me thinking she's currently having her Kokushibo moment#definitely lightened the mood and we were laughing for like 5 minutes straight#anyways Yoriichi and Michikatsu (mostly Michi) are my faves from this story because I can feel for them more than I do other characters#Also that thing in the beginning is meant to be a hitodama!! I wanted Michi to land next to Yoriichi but when I tried the shooting star ide#it did not work 💀 anyways that little wisp reforms into Kokushibo's monstrous form‚ which Yoriichi shreds apart in seconds#for the people looking for my usual submas content‚ I actually had an idea to draw them debating which twin to cosplay a few months back#Ingo said Emmet should be Yoriiichi cause he's the younger one‚ Emmet said Ingo should be Yoriichi cause he's cooler (read: better liked)#This took about 5 hours elapsed time‚ I stopped halfway through the last panel for a 6 hour nap#Also the purple just denotes which sections is close to the demonic parts‚ kinda like lighting but not quite

a taste of hannibal, a touch of megamind, a shot of venom (pours the whole damn bottle)
i love venom (2018) a lot, it’s my go-to movie when i’m bored or sad, i have seen it many many times. i saw it again a week or so ago with a bud and finally had the opportunity to pen down this lovely au i’ve been thinkin bout
i’ve got a much more fleshed out sketch of how this au plays out. not sure if i’ll write it yet
anyway some bullet points
noir (called, ofc, noir) arrives on earth-138 in the 1920s. his first host is robbie and they basically go through the venom movie, where noir slowly learns to love earth and humanity and all that jazz. up until the 50s or so they’re an investigative reporter and occasionally a scary vigilante superhero!
when robbie is killed (not ewaf style. i forbid it), it fucking devastates noir and he host-hops for a bit, doing fun anarchy things to keep up robbie’s legacy but also losing a few morals here and there. he can do a little murder and eat nazis as a treat
the symbiotes arrive en masse and osborn infects humans with them to turn into his fascist riot police army
through vampire-hunting-esque shenanigans, hobie and noir meet, and strike up a tenuous truce to fight the government. hobie does not like him at first, but noir very much does ;)
cue a slow burn gothic romance between a freedom fighter and a devoted monster <3
#spider man: across the spider verse#spider punk#spider noir#hobie brown#noirpunk#theyre not spiderpeople in this au lol#the issue is i can write horror but i cant draw it lhkjdsf#which is why the Funnies#and the goddamn megamind scene. which somehow perfectly fits#see the fun part about it is that noir has to always be connected to hobie in order to survive#so we have Monster Who is Recklessly Devoted to Host and Host Who is Not Into This#noir’s hat and general look come from his assimilation to humanity over the last fifty or so years. hes not like other symbiotes#hes quirky. he wears a fedora. you ever seen him without that stupid hat on that’s WEIRD#two stupid old jokes in one! i like it#anyway yeah monster noir for the win#thanks discord! yall made me rework this entirely just to make it more fucked up horror <3

revamped looong mermaid orufrey au :')
#witch hat tag#orufrey#partial nudity /#about half of it is new the other half is redrawn from last year. Why would you rescribble some scribbles. Well it was bad.#i always underestimate how much i've improved in a year last may was questionable. also it's not even may any more so why mermaids now.#sorry if you remember this but at least half is new story. i'll just paste more explanation from twt....#first qifrey was cursed by EVIL WITCH eye taken and thrown into the sea#memory-less. then kind little witch boy oru found him on the beach & they became friends#they drifted apart after falling for each other bc qif knew he could never be with him.#oru walked on the beach every day for years hoping to see him again until so desperate he goes into the sea (on a ship?) & is dying#qifrey saved him with a kiss. they got closer &oru swore to find a way to save him that wasnt dangerous but qif knew hed need a dark witch.#(that witch was probably the one who cursed him..just toying with him...) in with the spell oru DOES forget him for real#even tho he needs to give Kiss Of True Love before qif turns totally blind for qif to stay human for good or become seafoam. but oru someho#the oldest magic is love..the ability to break through the curses of loneliness and despair. qif already did that for him#so oru was able to do it back later. he fell in love with him again..but also realised it was obviously him....well anyway......#originally the 'finding oru stranded like that guy in the little mermaid' was a separate au but it still makes sense to combine them#i dont want them to have not met in childhood...thats the orufrey thing....#im going to work on Proper drawings next instead of silly comics as usual....
